My go-to wardrobe staples

Whether you’re a busy mom or a busy women about town, an easy to pair – and wear – wardrobe goes hand in hand with an always on the go lifestyle. Speaking for myself, – a stay at home mom of two –  I spend a lot of time in the same kind of pieces on a day to day basis. Functional and simple. If we’re having an at home day it’s easy : a pair of sweats or leggings and a t-shirt. But if we’re on the run, it’s jeans and a tee or high waisted leggings, a blouse or cami and cardigan – what I call my go-to pieces.

“Our life dictates a certain kind of wardrobe.” – Grace Kelly

Getting errands done with the kids doesn’t mean I want to run around town in my sweatpants, but I also don’t want to wear a body-hugging dress or my favorite blouse (I know it will get dirty! It’s just my luck.) So my favorite jeans or always flattering leggings are what I go for. A henley shirt or peplum top and I’m all set.

You can shop some of my favorite looks below. Some of the pieces are no longer available so I linked some similar pieces for any of you who need to add a few basics to your closet.

While I love following certain trends, I do feel like we have to find what works for us – our bodies and our lifestyles. The sweat shirt trend is one that is still going strong, and that is one I can easily add to my day to day. I don’t care for very oversized as it is far to large for my frame but a loose fit is comfortable and versatile (and perfect for everyday).

Crew Neck Sweater by tna is exceptionally comfortable and my favorite sweater right now. / Relaxed fit fleece Sweater  / Knit hooded sweater  – currently on saleBasic Crew sweater – amazing price.

Leggings are a staple in my wardrobe and I would wear them everyday if I could (and I kinda sorta almost do!) These High Rise Leggings are my current fave, and their easy to dress up / If you are very active and need a comfy pair, try these by tna. / Mid rise leggings –  the price doesn’t get any better then this! A Dressy Jogger pant  is a great alternative to jeans, leggings and sweats. Just as comfortable and easy but super chic.

Throw a cardigan, button down sweater or a draped vest over any basic tee or top to dress up your look and keep you comfy all day. Layering is my favorite! It’s a simple step that looks a little more pulled together and looks like you took put a lot more thought into your outfit then you actually did!

Jeans are everyone’s go to! You can dress them up – blouse, statment necklace, blazer. They’re comfotable enough for everyday – with a sweater or just a t-shirt. They can be high-waisted, low rise, ripped, skinny or flared. It doesn’t matter how you like them, just find a pair or two that fits your lifestyle and makes yoou feel great! Here are some faves I found. (HM has become my go to place for super affordable and on trend jeans these days. Check them out.)
